Week One High School Football Recap

With week one of the high school football season coming to a close, here is a recap of all the local action!

The Farmington Knights beat the North County Raiders 48-3 after the Raiders lost starting QB Brady McClure to injury in the second half. The Knights forced out 5 turnovers from the Raiders and got a huge week-one victory against their rivals. 

Sikeston took down the Central Rebels in a 32-7 win. QB Jayce Drake threw 2 touchdowns, and Running Back Jared Waters had a huge game on the ground. Central struggled offensively, only scoring once to open up the second half. 

Potosi beat St. Clair 12-0 in a defensive-filled battle. Potosi only allowed 6 first downs and only 132 yards to the struggling Bulldogs, and 3rd year QB David Miller had a passing touchdown to Rhenn Mapes to clinch the game. 

St. Vincent and DeSoto had an edge-of-your-seat thriller in a 14-7 win. The game was knotted at 7 entering the fourth Quarter, when St. Vincent nailed what was eventually a game-winning touchdown in the early parts of the fourth. The Dragons had the ball on the Indians 10 yard line in the final drive of the game, but failed to capitalize and sealed the victory for the Indians. 

St. Genevieve took down the Dexter Bearcats 32-7 after dominating the first half. St. Gen scored 32 in the first half and didn't allow Dexter to get on the board until late in the fourth. The Dragons had a great run game, getting 272 yards on the ground. 

Valle Catholic dominated Hayti, 55-14. Both of the teams in St. Genevieve looked great. 

Week 2 will kick off on Friday, with the Dockins Sports Network covering Herculaneum vs Fredericktown and Charleston vs Potosi.
